Herb garden in Bad Waldsee
What began with grandmother's lovage has now become a herb garden that could hardly be more colourful and diverse.
For us, herbs are much more than just flavourings: They are the centrepiece of our cuisine, give every dish a unique flavour and connect us with our homeland.
From April to October, everything revolves around herbs: every month we celebrate a new herb theme that enriches our weekly menu. Our "Mattenhaus herb evenings" with Father Gerhard are also a special highlight and in June we organise our herb days - a whole week full of enjoyment, with picnics in the countryside or dining under the trees. This is what real herbal love tastes like!

From April to October, we invite you to our Mattenhaus herb evening once a month. Father Gerhard from Brunnenhof Ebenweiler guides you through our herb garden between perennials and raised beds with plenty of knowledge and humour. With an aperitif in hand, you will start an unforgettable evening. Then it's off to a convivial table, where you can chat to your heart's content about herbal delights and favourite recipes over a 3-course herb menu.

The Mattenhauser Kräutertage from 21 - 28 June 2026 offer fine dishes with fresh herbs and flowers, herb garden tours and many home-made delicacies.

Herbal days in Bad Waldsee
In June, we celebrate our herbs for a whole week - at the Mattenhaus Herb Days. This is when our garden shows its best side, everything is green and fragrant. The programme is colourful and changes a little every year: Sometimes there's an outdoor picnic, sometimes a long table under the trees. There is also a special herbal menu and many of our favourite home-made dishes, which have been very popular for years. If you want to be there, you should reserve your place in good time.
